Here are 7 of our staff who have advanced their career at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi

Campbell Reynolds

SALES OPERATIONS MANAGER - Starting as an ambitious sales consultant in 2016 I have been provided the opportunity to expand my skill set and for a period I worked as a floating manager, pricing trade-ins, working in finance, buying and selling cars. Recently I’ve been promoted to Sales Operations Manager! The sales department has some great characters and it feels like family, there’s a good reason nobody leaves.

Colin Porter

AFTERSALES MANAGER - For over 20 years I’ve worked for Mitsubishi Motors. For the last 11 years it’s been with Simon at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi and every day I enjoy coming to work. From humble beginnings as an apprentice mechanic I worked hard and thrived on learning everything I possibly could about Mitsubishi’s. Once qualified I worked my way into the workshop foreman role and then onto a workshop leadership role guiding, training and upskilling other junior technicians through their apprenticeships. My first role at SLM was working in an office administration role booking people in and processing warranty claims. As I was exposed to more and more I jumped at the opportunities of progressing my career. I worked really hard and moved from this to service advising then after a few years began my journey into service management. This was something that really challenged me as for the first time being good at your job was no longer about how good you are at something, it was about how great you can make others. Encouraging people to push themselves, rewarding hard work and giving people their own opportunities is what makes me happy. This is what drives me back to do it all again after a good Christmas break. I now have the role as the Aftersales Manager which completes the full journey from the bottom to the top. It’s been a really rewarding journey, one that I would challenge anybody to aim for. A part of this role involves recruitment and I’m always looking for the same passion, drive and desire to learn in all of our appointments. We have a great place to work and love finding like-minded people join our great team.

Don Polgahage

QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN - I joined Simon Lucas as a Service Groomer in May 2019. Worked hard as a Service Groomer for a few months and I was offered an apprenticeship to become a Service Technician. That was one of my dreams and I was really happy that my hard work was greatly recognised. I finished my apprenticeship and currently, I am a Qualified Service Technician. I am forever thankful to Simon Lucas Mitsubishi for giving me the opportunity to build a career and the support that I have received from my dear colleagues for completing my apprenticeship. It’s a fun-filled and caring workplace with open arms to create opportunities for hard-working people to advance their careers. I am really glad to be a part of such a wonderful team.

Jamie Richmond

JUNIOR TECHNICIAN - For nearly 20 years and over two employments I have worked with the team at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi. My journey started in 2001 when I started as a service groomer, my role was ensuring all the vehicles through the workshop were cleaned and vacuumed after the technicians had completed their work. This was 11 years of hard, but enjoyable work. It’s the before and after that was the most rewarding bit. From here I decided to give things a try elsewhere but soon I ended up back at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi. The Service Manager Colin called to say they had an opening in the workshop for a workshop assistant. Initially, I hesitated, doubting my ability to take on the role. However, Colin's persistence paid off, so, there I was back at home base, but now in a proper embroidered uniform. I first started assisting where possible, observing, and learning the basics. Putting cars on the hoist, dropping the oil, and obtaining the parts for the technician. Over the years my workshop foreman and Colin encouraged me a bit more and a bit more. Now I’m the lead hand in our Tyre Centre changing all the tyres and carrying out wheel alignments. Amidst these tasks, I perform pre-delivery inspections and fit genuine accessories for all our new vehicles. I have recently been given the opportunity to help new juniors coming into the workshop upskill before starting their apprenticeships. This middle leadership role is so satisfying, seeing people come through the ranks and now be mentoring them myself is what makes every day at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi a day I’m happy to be at work. For me, it’s the camaraderie and team that make the journey so rewarding.

Jono Brentnall

BUSINESS MANAGER - Being employed by Simon Lucas Motors doesn’t equate to just having a job. It means having a career, an opportunity for professional development and above all an opportunity for personal development. I can speak to this sentiment personally - I started working in the Service Department as a Junior Service Advisor. Over the past five years have been given multiple opportunities of growth, eventually working my way up to become Business Manager. Our organisation nurtures a tight-knit family atmosphere – everyone knows each other well, and not a single day goes by without having a good laugh!

Mikayla Kilgour

BUSINESS ASSISTANT - I started out at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi as a yard girl, booking in panel work and fitting number plates, helping run cars around. I found this job through a family friend who had spoken greatly about the workplace and said I’d fit right in. I enjoyed this role as it was fast paced and always something to do. I expressed that I was eager to learn and ready to grow, they took this into account when there was an opening role with the finance department doing admin. They asked if I would be interested in the role, and I jumped at the opportunity. And now three years in, I am doing the vehicle co-ordinating, finance admin and becoming a sales cadet.

Scott Briden

VEHICLE PREPARATION SUPERVISOR - I started at Simon Lucas Mitsubishi in 2017. Since then I have gained knowledge and grown my skill set immensely in this friendly team environment. After a period away from the company on OE I was excited to return. With my hard work being recognised at an early stage was promoted to supervisor of my department. This sums up the company ethos here which hires well, recognises talent, and provides ample opportunities to anyone willing to take their career to the next stage.
